MEDT: Medical Terminology
Experience Required: No medical background required.
Course Description: Prefixes, suffixes, combining forms, abbreviations, body structure and basic anatomy of all body systems. Overview of medical history, medical law and related ethical issues.
Two 4 hour classes per week for 5 Weeks. AM/PM Classes and Saturday classes available (Sat classes are 10 weeks).
MBC1: Introduction to Medical Billing and Coding
Experience Required: No experience required.
Course Description: This 80 hr program introduces the student to the basis of billing and coding. The student will be taught ICD-9, CPT, HCPCS, Modifiers, SOAP Notes, Fraud & Abuse, HIPAA rules and regulations, Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care & other insurances, Explanation of Benefits, Appeals, Denials, Medical Ethics, Collections, Reimbursements, CMS-1500 and resume writing.
Total Class Time: ICD-9/CPT and Medical Billing—80 hrs.
Two 4 hour classes per week for 10 weeks. AM/PM classes available.
PMCC: AAPC PMCC CODING Certification Program—CPC
Knowledge Required: ICD-9,CPT and Medical Billing.
Experience Required: Experience is recommended but not required
Course Description: This 80 hour class will prepare the student to sit for the CPC exam offered by the American Academy of Professional Coders. The student must have excellent knowledge of CPT, ICD-9, Medical Terminology and Anatomy. Current Procedural Terminology is covered in depth in preparation for the exam. After completion of this program, the student will be qualified to sit for the CPC examination.
The taking of this course does not guarantee the passing of the CPC National Certification Test.
Melody is an accredited and certified instructor through AAPC and has successfully passed training to teach this class.
Education Required: High school diploma required.

MS1: Introduction to Medical Software
Knowledge Required: Must have knowledge of CPT, ICD-9 and Insurance Billing.
Experience Required: None.
Course Description: This course trains students the basics of medical software including software terminology, demographics, claims, scheduling and statements using Medworxs software.
Education Required: None.
Total Class Time: 18 Hours
Two 3 hour classes per week for 3 weeks. AM/PM classes available.
CB1: Computer Basics
Experience Required: No experience necessary.
Course Description: This course teaches the beginner the basics of Microsoft Office—Excel, Word , PowerPoint and Outlook, as well as an introduction to Microsoft Windows.
Total Class Time: 24 Hours
Two 3 hour classes per week for 4 weeks. AM/PM classes and Saturday classes available (Sat classes are 6 weeks).
MBA1: Basic Anatomy
Knowledge Required: Medical Terminology.
Experience Required: No experience necessary.
Course Description: The student will become familiar with the location and function of the main organs of the body and study of internal and external structure of the body.
Total Class Time: 40 Hours
Two 4 hour classes per week for 5 weeks. AM/PM classes available.
MOA: Medical Office Administration **NEW**
Experience Required: Knowledge of Medical Billing and Coding
Course Description: This course will prepare an individual to manage a physician practice. How to develop procedures, Medical law & ethics, HIPAA/Compliance, Fraud/Abuse, Medical Records Management, Medical Software, Marketing, Communications, Personnel Management, Daily Operations, Front and Back Office procedures, and practice finances.
Total Class Time: 80 Hours
Two 4 hour classes per week for 10 weeks. AM/PM classes available.
HBCS: Hospital Billing & Case Studies **NEW**
Experience Required: Proficient in ICD-9, CPT, HCPCS, Modifiers, Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Medicare Rules and Regulations.
Course Description: This course will teach the student facility based coding including DRG’s and APC’s. Real life case studies are an integral part of this course, designed to help students understand case notes. It is also designed to help prepare students for the CPC-H national exam.
Education Required: School Diploma required for CPC-H test.
Total Class Time: 40 Hours
Two 4 hour classes for 5 weeks. AM/PM Classes available.
